Reaching Wider

Reaching Deeper: First United Methodist offers a buffet of opportunities for all to grow in their relationship with God and each other.

Adults:  On Sunday mornings at 9 am Christian Faith Formation opportunities are available for all ages.

Youth:  The Jr./Sr. High Youth Fellowship group meets on Wednesday evenings during the months of September through May.  The youth will also meet for Sunday school before worship.

Children:  Groups and activities for children meet for Christmas pageant rehearsals, puppet ministries, and music ministries. Children will also meet for Sunday school before worship.

Reaching Higher:  As we deepen our relationship with God and others we focus on providing ministries that bring us toward excellence.

Our Prayer Shawl ministry meets every Monday for the purpose of knitting or crocheting prayer shawls for people in need of feeling God's love wrapped around them.  This group continues to grow and shawls have been given across the globe.  All ages are welcome.  All you need are crochet or knitting needles and some yarn.  If you don't knit or crochet, but if you would like to learn the members of the group are happy to teach you.

Prayer and Share continues its mission to pray for our congregation, our community and the world each Tuesday morning.

Music ministry at First UMC has a tradition of being excellent.  Our Sanctuary choir rehearses each Wednesday evening and provides the anthem at worship on Sundays - September through May.  We have a rotation of talented pianists and organists that lead us in congregational singing every Sunday. During the summer months we welcome groups such as the Apple Corps and Belle's A-Pealing barbershop groups, we also welcomed the Brownville Village Theater, special soloists and groups, and anyone who has a desire to share their gift of music with us.  Summer is also a time to include more singing of favorite hymns into the worship service.

Stewardship - First UMC is a supporter and has sponsored or hosted Dave Ramsey's Financial Peace University. This class is being offered in September 2016, for more information you may contact the church office.

Reaching Wider:  First UMC has a strong ministry of being actively engaged in the needs of those less fortunate around the world.

Auburn Community Gardens has a multi-faceted approach food insecurity in the community and around the world. For more information visit the Auburn Community Garden - Lord's Acre Facebook page.

Volunteers in Mission:  In the past 12 months First UMC has sent a group of youth on mission to Minneapolis and three adults to the Bahamas to work with children living in poverty.  We were able to send two adults to Rio Bravo in July, 2013 on a medical mission.
